About Us Kal-Kare is owned and operated by the owners of Yarn & Thread by Lisa, George and Lisa. Hi, I'm Lisa. Lets' see if I can tell you a bit about Kal-Kare and how we started this business without rambling on. I was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant for 20 years. I thought I had the whole skin and body care issue down to a science. Boy was I wrong!! As we mature of course our skin changes. As my husband and I were getting older our skin was getting drier and drier. And my face was getting oilier. Wasn't oily skin for teenagers?? And why is my body so dry yet my face so oily. Something was wrong with this picture. Not to mention I was tired of watching hubby scratch like a puppy with flees after his showers. I became a woman with a mission. I was going to get to the bottom of this. So I went on a search; the internet can be a wonderful thing. What exactly are all those long names of ingredients in our skin and body care products?? I have to tell you I was appalled!!! I am not going to go through a list of ingredients and give you definitions. This page would go on forever. But, here is a web site that is definitely worth your time to take a look at, http://www.safecosmetics.org/index.cfm They have a searchable product guide to help you tell if your commercial products are safe or not, http://www.cosmeticdatabase.com/ Long story short I found out why my loving hubby was itching so much and I found out why my skin seemed so mix matched. The ingredients in our skin and body care was really not very good for our skin and we didn't even realize it. Regardless of what products you use please take a minute to read the labels on all of your skin and body products. Not just your soaps. Take a look at your shampoo labels, body lotions, and makeup. Find out what all those hard to pronounce names are. There are ingredients out there in the commercial products that can cause and/or irritate skin conditions and rashes. Some of the ingredients are even linked to cancer. When you do the research you will read things like, thought to be a carcinogen, or classified as a possible carcinogen. You will find ingredients listed that are also listed in antifreeze, brake fluid and industrial cleaners. Don’t believe me, look for yourself. Like I said, I was appalled. Between the Kal-Kare Body Care and the Lady Emily Natural Cosmetics we have the skin and body care covered.
